President’s Diversity & Inclusion Mini-Grant Program

Florida State University is committed to supporting efforts that move us closer to realizing the vision of a campus community where our differences as well as our similarities are equally recognized. By valuing, celebrating and leveraging the differences and similarities of our students, faculty and staff, we inspire an environment of innovation and passion – one that enables us to create a teaching, research and service environment that better reflects the needs of our students, faculty, staff, customers, constituents, communities and other key stakeholders.

To encourage efforts which align with the University’s strategic plan, the  President’s Diversity and Inclusion Mini-Grant Program, provides support to initiatives and projects that further the diversity goals of the University. Mini-grant proposals are accepted and reviewed for all diversity related areas, with the following specific target areas:

  • Enhance the quality of teaching and learning about diversity;
  • Create a welcoming and inclusive work and learning environment where differences are respected and valued
  • Improve recruitment, retention and graduation of students from historically underrepresented groups; and
  • Increase recruitment, retention and success of faculty from historically underrepresented groups.

The Mini-Grant Application period is October 1- October 31 annually. Proposals should be submitted through the online Mini-Grant application which is available during the fall semester.  Successful proposals will have the following:

  • The project must have the potential of having an impact upon a significant portion of the campus community.
  • The activities are clearly defined and activated
  • The project has a clearly described evaluation plan and measurable outcomes.
  • Project activities must be open to all students, faculty, and staff at FSU.
  • The project plan must include a completion date no later than December 31, of the upcoming calendar year.

A panel composed of members of the President’s Council on Diversity & Inclusion will review and approve the applications. Proposals will be judged primarily on the following: soundness of the project design, rationale for the project, feasibility of completing the project within the timeframe proposed, qualifications of the applicant(s), and relationship of the project to the specified goals of the Strategic Plan. Awards may be up to $1,000 each.
