Earth Day is recognized as one of the largest secular observances in the world, marked by more than a billion people every year as a day of action to create global, national, and local environmental change. The inaugural Earth Day observation on April 22, 1970, and now is a worldwide event that celebrates and promotes environmental awareness and actions. This year’s Earth Day theme is 'Invest in Our Planet. The theme encourages businesses, governments, and citizens around the world to invest in our planet and improve our environment, to increase the possibility of giving a cleaner, better, and safer future.
