A Letter From the Black Faculty & Staff Network

Dear Florida State University Black Faculty and Staff:

We, the FSU Black Faculty and Staff Network want you all to know we are here, and you are essential.

We share the deep pain and unrequited love that has all too often impacted history and our daily lives.

We believe outdated and ineffective social and institutional practices must change.

We recognize this moment as a movement and not symbolism; therefore, transforming culture is necessary, critical, and already in motion.

We too, want to learn what is ending, what is growing, and what can we make room to birth.

We will not wed ourselves to band-aid practices.

We are reflecting on the meaning in this moment, our commitment is to engage in action as a community.

We will heal and love those people and processes that are within our grasp.

We will sing the songs of our ancestors and use the collective spirit of those fearless Black people to realize individual purpose, specific policy, and economic power.

We need each other.

We stand together.

We love us.

We are here, you are essential.
